Blog Mumbai News Dubai Global Race Results

The 2023 relay series has officially begun!

23 February 2023 at 12:35PM

February has been non-stop – with the first and second Bloomberg Square Mile Relays of the year happening eight days apart from each other. Dubai and Mumbai saw their respective cities turned into the ultimate racing hotspots for some of the biggest firms across the globe.

09/02/2023 – Dubai kicks off the first relay of the year

On 9 February, the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay Dubai saw Emirates Steel claim the Fastest Firm title with a total time of 1:00:41.4. This now marks the fourth time in a row that the manufacturing giants have claimed the top spot at the DIFC. They were followed by Runners Up Century Financial Consultancy LLC with a respectable 1:04:29.6 and third place firm JLL who were also the Fastest Mixed Team, with a time of 1:07:54.3. With a joint time of 1:33:13.7, the Fastest Female Team went to HSBC and their appropriately named team “HSBC Females For the Win’. Check out all the action in  the Dubai highlights video and get pumped for an amazing 2023 season!

17/02/2023 – the relay returns to Mumbai for the first time in three years

But we didn’t stop there, as we took the track straight from the DIFC to the Jio Garden on 17 February for the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay Mumbai. It has been three years since we last stepped foot in Mumbai, but the relay was welcomed with open arms as the Reserve Bank of India took the top spot with a collective time of 1:04:36.4. In second and third place were Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited and ICICI Bank Ltd with respective times of 1:09:53.8 and 1:12:57.8. The Fastest Mixed Team, Trafigura Global Services, cruised to victory with a cool 1:17:56.8 time, while the Fastest Female Team spot was grabbed by Nomura Services India Private Limited with a joint time of 1:31:58.0. It felt great to be back with our friends in Mumbai, and participants and supporters alike can relive the moments again by watching back on the Mumbai highlights.

Thank you to all runners who went the extra mile

Participants for both cities ran for more than just the bragging rights and esteemed titles. They also ran for two worthwhile causes – the UAE Food Bank and Magic Bus India.Through The Extra Mile, runners unlocked a $30,000 donation for both partners. With the UAE Food Bank, the donation will help 500 marginalised young people live better, healthier lifestyles, through food care packages. With Magic Bus, the donation will help provide opportunities to children aged 12 to 18 in the poverty-stricken areas in Nalasopara.
