Coast to coast: The Bloomberg Square Mile Relay heads to New York and San Francisco!

Between June and July this year, the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay heads to America’s East and West coast! Thursday 8 June will see New York take on the relay, then on Wednesday 19 July, the baton will be handed to San Francisco for the first time in four years!
Square off at The Seaport
The bubbling NYC atmosphere has proven time and time again to be an exceptional host for the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay. Last year was the first time we touched ground at The Seaport since lockdown restrictions were lifted – and what an event it was!
The race saw Citi claim the Fastest Firm title in their city (no pun intended) and even more impressively, the Fastest Firm of 2022 across the entire six cities, in a collective time of 51:43.8. This now marks the third consecutive year in which Citi have beaten their rivals in New York – can they do the unthinkable and make it four wins in a row this year?
Second place firm Macquarie showed real tenacity but just fell short of the winner’s spot with an overall time of 53:27.3. They were followed closely by third place Citadel, who completed their race in 55:32:1. The Fastest Mixed team went to Credit Agricole CIB with a collective time of 1:02:32.6, while Goldman Sachs claimed the Fastest Female team with a time of 1:11:24.7.
Similar to last year, every mile participants commit to in the relay this year will contribute a $30,000 donation to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. This donation will help support educational programs as well as preserve its significance as a sacred place of remembrance, reflection and learning for a new generation.

Pier (27) pressure
2019 was the last time we touched down at Pier 27, but we can’t wait to land in San Francisco and pick up where we left off! The 2019 series saw Dodge & Cox as the Fastest Firm in San Francisco with a collective time of 55:02.0 – shaving 20 seconds off their time the year prior. The competition was incredibly fierce with only a 48 second difference between second and fifth place, but runners up Bank of America Merrill Lynch and third place Wells Fargo claimed their top spots with collective times 55:46.0 and 56:23.0 respectively. Team Strava were the fastest Mixed Team and fourth overall with their collective time of 56:27.0, while Bloomberg took charge as the Fastest Female time in a respectable 1:17:36.0.
Having the race fuelled by amazing causes is what allows for all participants to feel a sense of achievement, reward and fulfillment, and runners from this year’s San Francisco relay can expect their efforts to contribute a $30,000 donation to America Scores, who work towards getting thousands of girls into education through sport and physical activity.
