The Extra Mile - New York

After a decade of expansion, Bloomberg Square Mile Relay is now in 11 of the world’s most vibrant cities.  This year, we are proud to introduce The Extra Mile: a chance to make an impact way beyond the finish line and contribute to philanthropy in a bigger, better way.

The Extra Mile is a community-led initiative by Bloomberg Square Mile Relay, which addresses a unique social challenge in each city. It gives runners and spectators alike the opportunity to make a meaningful and actionable difference to public health, education, arts or the environment of their communities, all through using the power of sport.

The Square Mile Relay community of runners and spectators support the chosen charitable project in a number of ways:

• Funding - a portion of each team's entry fee is donated to the designated project
• Service - runners and race fans have the opportunity to give back through service hours prior to race day as well as throughout the year
• Celebration - on race night, we highlight the impact made and celebrate as one team

We encourage your teams to go beyond race night in giving back to your own community. With the collective strength of our global races – from those who run in them, to those who cheer them on – we can change our communities.

Not only do we run these cities – we care about them, too.
