Bloomberg Square Mile Relay launches Virtual Club
08 July 2020 a 7:41AM
The Bloomberg Square Mile Relay, a world-renowned corporate team running series, has today announced the launch of its new Virtual Club as it aims to ensure continuity in convening its global community, motivating personal health through exercise and delivering positive social impact.
The web-based platform will connect colleagues from multi-national companies in the series’ 12 cities across the world, who are usually only able to race and compete with those in their own city, to train and compete in global virtual challenges and races to earn points for themselves and their companies, climb the local and global rankings and ultimately collectively unlock charitable donations through their daily activity.
James Hassett, Managing Director, Square Mile Sport, commented: “During this unprecedented time, where across the globe we have been forced to change our work and lifestyle habits, the importance of community, daily physical activity and connection to society are as high as ever. These values have been at the heart of the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay for over a decade and I am delighted we are launching this incredibly powerful new platform that enables us to continue to inspire and motivate our community to be more active and in doing so have a positive social impact.
The Virtual Club will ensure our global community of corporate participants can still go The Extra Mile and run, jog or walk as a team to help unlock vital funds for our partner charities around the world, to help address the current public health issues in each race city.”
These donations will go towards supporting organisations through the event’s charitable program, The Extra Mile, which will focus on responding to the COVID-19 pandemic or addressing inequality issues in cities in which the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay takes place.
