Virtual Club launches Sydney Virtual Relay

With a growing global footprint, Bloomberg Square Mile Relay is excited to announce the launch of the very first Virtual Bloomberg Square Mile Relay event in Sydney, Australia.
The race format, which has already seen phenomenal success and popularity among Virtual Club members in other global cities, involves teams of five from the same company each taking on a one mile (1.61km) run or walk. Each participant tracks and logs their individual time on the Virtual Club platform, and finishers will be ranked in order of race time, with the fastest five in each group presented on the leaderboard with an accumulative, overall 5-mile team time.
The Virtual Bloomberg Square Mile Relay Sydney is taking place from Thursday 22 to Wednesday 28 April (AEDT), with teams competing in the hope of becoming Sydney’s Fastest Firm. Each participant will receive 200 points for taking part – points are converted into credits which are redeemable against charitable projects in the city.
The Virtual Relay was a natural addition to the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay event roster, borne from the challenges of the global pandemic in 2020 when live events were put on hold. Since its launch it has been an incredibly well-received event in London and across APAC, with strong participation numbers and a great degree of enthusiasm to connect with colleagues and challenge their business rivals to become The Fastest Firm in each respective city.
What has become apparent over the past 12 months is that Virtual Club member organisations and their employees still possess a thirst for competition. The team environment, even in a virtual capacity, serves to re-engage disconnected employees, provide a kindred experience for member organisations, and inject some competitive fun through the lens of healthy activity.
After a highly successful live event in 2019, the Virtual Relay in Sydney is expected to be a popular addition to Sydney’s Virtual Club community.
