The Virtual Club – August Review

04 September 2020 で 12:34PM

August was another fantastic month for the Virtual Club! Our global community smashed the target of 300,000 activity points earned in the month to unlock the next US$90,000 donation to The Extra Mile, which will go towards supporting our partner charities in each city. A huge thank you to everyone who ran, jogged and walked to help unlock this funding.

The Club has gone from strength to strength, as we’ve welcomed 354 new members, with 200 companies now represented across our global community of 1,140 members.

Events

We’ve had a record number of events this month with a total of three challenges and two races. Over 340 members registered in our two global races and we’ve seen the challenges get slightly more difficult. Both the Weekend Warrior II and 200 Club returned this month and we introduced a new challenge, 10K Your Way, giving our members the opportunity to earn a huge 750 bonus points in total across all our events.

Paul Van der Sluijs from HSBC in London was the global winner of the August 1 mile Race in a rapid 04:42, beating Alastair Stanley’s time last month by 14 seconds! You can view the official results of the race hereOur members also took on our furthest challenge yet in the Global 10km Race, with Robin Fall from Bloomberg in Hong Kong taking the title in a time of 36:56 – all official results can be viewed here.

Our Community

In total, 848,830 points have been earned by our members this month, with 108,668 kilometres covered and over 74,000 hours of activity recorded!

Our August heroes are Jose Eduardo Garcia from Itaú Unibanco in São Paulo as the top male points scorer, earning 10,984 points over the month and Linna Chan from Prudential in Kong Kong as the top female points scorer with 6,852 points! Look out for our articles later in the month as we chat to our heroes about their experience with the Virtual Club. You can learn more about our July heroes here.

Looking ahead to September

September is a new month, so everyone’s monthly activity points are re-set to zero, but from 1st September there are even more opportunities for our members to earn points, with cycling being added to the list of available activities on the platform, as well as plenty of upcoming events with those all-important bonus points on offer!

Remember that every activity point will help go towards The Extra Mile challenge for September which is to hit 600,000 activity points to unlock the next US$90,000 donation.

Invite your colleagues to get out there to take part in as many activities and events as you can to earn all those important activity points and vital event bonus points so you and your company can climb even higher up the rankings!
